Meet Phionah

Phionah is looking to start a stationary and bookshop business in Jinja.

Although she already had a love for books and stories, Phionah did not hold a picture book until she was 10 years old. The school in her village and neighboring villages did not have books to hand out, so once she held one in her hands and flipped through the pages, her passion only grew.

Phionah's desire is to change the culture in her village by putting books in the hands of young kids and parents. Of course selling books would be great in her bookshop, but more importantly, she wants families to take home books to look at and read together. This will of course help support children’s literacy and education, but also support the connections between parent and child.
